About me, Sam Gillespie.
I work nationally with brands and businesses of all sizes to develop high quality and impactful photo & video content for commercial use, ranging from branded content for web & social, animated app/software demos, corporate showreels and talking-head interviews.
I pride myself on my professionalism and creativity and really throw myself into every project I do – whilst delivering top quality content that allows you to shout about your products and services, hit your marketing objectives and grow your business.
But don’t take my word for it – see what my clients say about me!
I wasn’t always a photographer and filmmaker…
Prior to starting my video production business, Matchbox Productions Limited, I worked across various different industries.
Firstly, whilst at the University of Bath, I spent a year in Madrid working for Banco Santander’s investment banking division. I had an epic year and made some great friends but “Interest Rate Swaps Trading” was just as fun as it sounds.
So, after graduating from university and thinking advertising might have been for me, I applied to a few internships with London ad agencies. This was closer to what I wanted to do, but I was missing the commercial aspect that I would get by being “client side”.
I then set my sights on the FMCG industry and, after a short spell at Thomson Reuters doing shareholder analysis (almost as fun as interest rate derivatives!) I landed a graduate role at Danone where I would spend the next 4 years before I went freelance in 2017.
During my time at Danone I worked closely with marketing, advertising and social media agencies whilst managing a £7m marketing budget. I love bringing my marketing experience to the creative process by, for example, advising clients on how to best optimise their video assets for social media advertising, drawing on my first-hand experience of personally running successful 360-degree campaigns.
I love the creative process, and even when not “working” (can I call it that if I love it so much?) I travel to as many far-flung places as I can or capture the stunning scenery the UK has to offer from the air with my drones (follow me on Instagram). Did I mention that I am a fully-insured and CAA-approved drone operator? Check out the Aerial Drone Filming page for more information.
